How to get to Sanibel Island – Sanibel Island is about 25 miles southwest of Fort Myers. To get there by car, you’ll likely take Interstate 75 (I-75) to Daniels Parkway (Exit 131) in Fort Myers. Follow Daniels Parkway west, then turn left onto Summerlin Road. Summerlin Road will take you directly to the Sanibel Causeway, which connects the mainland to Sanibel Island. The closest major airport is Southwest Florida International Airport, located in Fort Myers, about 30 miles from Sanibel Island.
